Remember the hub?

Illustration 1 - Don Mueang Hub

Bangkok is huge. There must be express bus routes and local bus routes so people traveling a very long distance can board the express one. At any time.

Illustration 2 - North Bangkok map

The best way for people to travel around Bangkok is to build hubs around the city. And Bangkok needs hundred of them. Then, the routes must be laid to link these hubs. For example, the dark green route connects Chatuchak Park with Wat Samian Nari, Thung Song Hong, Lak Si, Don Mueang, and Rangsit. The hubs will also house the interchange with local routes as shown in illustration 1. For example, if we follow the illustration 2, to get to somewhere in Don Mueang, such like Don Mueang Plaza, from Downtown Bangkok. People can take the train to Chatuchak Park, transfer to the express bus which stops at only a few hubs, and finally transfer to the local bus which only goes for few more stops.

Illustration 3 - Hub Layout

Looking at the layout above in illustration 3, one alighting from an express bus can walk out to his local bus queue very easily. This layout does not need a huge space like many of the interchanges like in Singapore. This can also be built easily with minimum land to be brought.

Anyway, this is just my dream Bangkok bus hub. I know that this is very difficult because the authorities in Bangkok do not really have a very good vision on anything good for the city.
